“Only we humans worry about the future, regret the past, and blame ourselves for the present.”

Mary Summerlin, MS, NCC, LCMHC, QS, LCAS, CCMC, CDBT, CH

Mary has a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Trauma and Crisis from Walden University. She works with a diverse population of clients in terms of age, gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, family composition, religious beliefs, and background. More importantly, she sees each person who comes to her as an individual with his or her own needs in terms of receiving assistance to get through their own life’s journey. In doing so, she incorporates a variety of theories in her practice. It is a collaborative process to identify what a person needs, what issues are present in their lives, and figuring out a treatment model for them to go from. It is Mary’s belief that all people possess a personal strength and means to improve their own lives. Sometimes people just need the proper guidance and support.

Faith

Faith has earned her degree in knowing when the right time to sit, take a nap, and play if from living a dog’s life. Completely in the moment she attempts to teach the humans to do the same, and to offer them the comfort everyone needs. She works hard at making sure everyone in the office does the things they need to do, though sadly, dog school never taught her the strange human language. On days when it might get overwhelming for her she also teaches the lesson that it is okay to find a quiet place to sleep for a few hours. Faith loves all the humans that come in from the child kind to the older, she loves her life, and she knows herself well enough to know when she needs a break. We could all learn some valuable lessons from Faith.
